Since you gave your cat human food your cat most probably thinks his cat food isn't great to eat anymore and would rather starve itself for some human food than it's own. The best way to help your cat is buy some wet food; that's the best type of cat food cat's like. (Well most of them at least) If what your giving your cat is wet food, then I suggest you put tuna from a can mixed with it's dryfood, or wet food.

First of all...make sure you do not run out of cat food again. Having any animal is a responsibility. If you do not have money for its food you should not have a live animal. When you are eating, put your cat in another room, (preferably one with a door you can close) eat your dinner then let the cat out. Do this as long as it takes. Your cat will see there is no more human food and eat its own food.

Don't offer it anything else. Don't let it starve if it refuses to eat the cat food - but most animals, given a day or two, will give up the finicky act.
If she hasn't started eating it in a day or two (do not let her go more than 48 hours without eating!) try putting a small amount of people food in the dish mixed with her food.
Another option would be to try wet canned cat food. Some cats that become fussy will switch back over to cat food more easily if you give them canned food and slowly mix in the dry cat food over the course of a week (more and more dry in each serving).
Once you get her back on cat food don't feed her off of your menu again! A small sample as a treat is ok once and awhile, but too often makes a very finicky kitty.

I would suggest that you stop feeding the cat any table/human food as our food is not always safe/good for cats (even though we think they are harmless).
You could try a new brand of food or switch to wet or dry food depending on what the cat gets now.....
If you are worried about the cat not eating I am sure a vet could give you some ideas.....
Good luck

You set out the cat food, don't allow it to eat any people food, and then wait. The cat will get hungry enough that it will eat the cat food. But you should at least by a decent brand of cat food.

The same thing happened to my cat before! It should be perfectly fine if she eats the dog's food some of the time. I know this because one day, we ran out of cat food and she ate the dog food for about five days, and was perfectly okay. Just make sure your cat looks healthy and make sure she is eating and drinking, especially in hot weather.

"Luckystar" told you in her answer to give the kitty the food with the milk balls in it and I agree! It is by "Friskies" in a purple bag.
My cats swear by it! I had to use another brand of "Friskies" and they actually knocked over their bowls!
Most cats like human food because it has a strong smell and taste. I have a cat that will not eat "weak" smelling food. I was told (vet) it was because in nature they need to smell it to avoid being poisoned and/or eat rotten meats.
The "Friskies" we both mentioned has a nice, strong smell and good taste. For the same finnicky cat I also put a little bit of dry food with wet food "gravy" on it. That is how I slowly weaned him to his food.
I know it is hard to resist a cute, meowing, "starving" cat BUT you gotta do it!
Leave the food out overnight and see how much "Mr.Fussy" truly eats. I bet it is more than you think.

Being honest I think you will find it difficult. You should never have encouraged your cat to eat anything other than it's own food. The only thing that I can think of is to maybe mix his food and your food together in his dish and then gradually leave your food out.
Hope this helps

Don't feed it your food. Let it chose to starve for a while... it WILL begin eating the cat food after a short while of not eating anything.
