when I was in middle school I was hitting 5:30's but the average was around 7 minutes

The fastest boy in our middle school runs a 5:19 mile and my fastest mile ever was 5:37. But thats not the average mile. I would say 6 - 6 1/2 minutes is an average and pretty good mile time!

I'd say for a boy it would be from: 6:30-8:30
And for a girl: 5:30 - 7:30
Thats depending on the persons size and how athletic they are I'm a guy in 6th grade and can do a mile in 7:00 mins - 7:30 as my best times depending on the temp. outside my best time in the cold was about 9:30-10:00. Hope that helped!!

Average I would have to say about 6 min - 6 min 45 sec....although some middle school runners can go under six.

for a guy 6:00-7:00
for a girl 7:00-8:00
those are average times.
good times would be 5:00-6:00 for a guy and 6:00-7:00 for a girl

i have a niece that is in middle school and she runs the mile in like 8 minutes and like 42 seconds or something. she said that they have to make it in 9 minutes, so thats about the average.

Under 8:00 is good.
It's a steady pace of 2:00 per lap on a track.
