Melbournians eat shark as the default fish-and-chips fish. If you ever go to melbourne and hear someone ask for "flake and chips", they want a piece of battered shark. Batter it just like a piece of cod or haddock.

I grew up on the stuff, but it is hard to find flake outside of Victoria. Even in Sydney they look askance at you if you try to order shark with your chips.

First catch your shark!

Most shark steaks are round with a small peice of cartlidge in the middle.
I like to dredge with flour, add a pinch of salt and pepper and cook in a hot fry pan with a bit of olive oil and butter until golden
It's a delicate flavour so I don't go for lots of sauces or herbs

Just like tuna or swordfish, but you really shouldn't eat shark as it's numbers are dwindling. You can simply grill it, that works for most fish. Also, as a predator, the mercury levels in shark are very high. One meal won't hurt you though

HI i´m Icelandic and we eat shark here. You have to watch out not to eat it raw because it is poisonous because of acids in the meat. shark is usually sectioned in pieces and then the meat is buried in gravel for 6 to 12 weeks, and then hung to dry for 2 to 4 months. After this treatment it hits the stores. we do not cook it. It is ready to eat like this. when eating it has a very strong scent of ammonia so it is not for everybody. But enjoyed by people who have gotten used to it when growing up. If you can get it in this stage than try giving it a taste without cooking.

Grilling is normally the best way when it comes to shark, but broiling with lemon and butter also works.

Ignore those first couple of comments.

Fried very quickly. It tends to go rubbery. Or, better still bake it in a stew!!
