I want locate family members of my father who was born in macon ga in 1898 desendents of africian slaves?

my father was born either in maben or macon ga left from ga when he was 17, we are african desendents anf I found great problems locating my ancestry I want to locate my people dearly and would appriciate any help

Hey Leon,

Vital records are the best source for this. Start with you, then your father, and his father. Each Birth, Death, or marriage record will lead to the parents of the individual the certificate is for.

Since you know where, you might also try grave sites, cemeteries and obits (from libraries). These are all good sources of information.

But that is how it is done, start with your own record, look at all of the information on it. Make sure you have the long form, it will list Parents - usually.

First, the town is Macon, GA, just to help you out that much. If you look up the name on Rootsweb.com(a free genealogy site), you will look need to know the county name is Bibb.
Second, make sure to let everyone know when you start your search that you are looking for a race specific inquirey.
Third, try locating a local genealogist through the Washington Memorial Library in Macon, GA as they have a Genealogy Library and they have actual researchers on board that charge a small fee, but will research this for you.
Lastly, there is Yahoo groups listed for serious researchers do not use the Georgia ones the are mostly porn.
