Education has traditionally been a female profession. That's also why you'll see more female secretaries and nurses. I know a couple of guys who would like to be teachers, so things appear to be looking up. When I was in elementary school, we only had three male teachers. Of course, one was a guidance counselor, and the second had taken a sabbatical and gone to England, and the third was a different guy every year.

Because teaching was one of the only jobs open to women in the past. Women who wanted to work had to go into teaching. All the other jobs were open to men. Now, it pretty much stays that way because of the stereotype.
