Hi,

You definitely need to take him to the vet. Never worry about looking stupid - we took our hamster in because she was hardly moving and couldn't eat, but by the time we got her to the vet an hour later, the little terror was as right as rain. The vet didn't mind at all - it just means you are a good pet owner.

It is most likely a problem with his food. Do you buy him kitten food, rather than cat food? Do you give him any 'treats' from your dinner plate? Do you give him cow's milk or cream? Any of these things could make him sick, as kitten's stomachs are very delicate.

As other people have said, it could be worms or something that he has swallowed, so you should definitely get him to the vet.

I'm sure he'll be ok :-)

xx Emmie

No this is not normal. My first suspicion is a food allergy because it has been going on so long but usually they vomit daily with those. Is there a chance that he is vomiting more frequently and you haven't noticed it?

I would also be worried about a disease. Has this baby had its shots? If so, when? Was it allowed outside before it had its shots? After? Do you have other cats? Are they vaccinated and do they go outside?

The best thing for your kitten is to see a vet. We cannot see your kitten so all we are doing is guessing. I would recommend switching to a food with no animal by-products unless the source is named and grain free would not be a bad idea. The fewer and simpler the ingredients, the better. If it is allergies, it can take a bit of time for the offending food to be fully out of your kitten's system. I do not know any grainfree cat foods unfortunately. I feed a raw diet to my cats so I'm not familiar with what kibbles there are for cats.

Ok first of all, I would phone the vets anyway even if he is lively enough because you are obvioulsy worried enough to write in here!!!!! Secondly a cat/kitten being sick every now and again is ok it is their way fo cleansing their systems out if they have over indulged. I hope you don't feed him too many titbits, cats are not like dogs and their digestive systems are a lot more delicate. Are his stools runny? If so get and emergency appointment. A cat/kitten being sick 4 times in one day is definitely cause for concern, don't worry about the vet thinking you are mad for asking questions in the future just lift the phone if you don't want to take him straight there, they should be able to advise you on what to do.

My cat did the same thing last year and it turned out that she had swallowed a string from a cat toy and had to have abdominal surgery. I'd be even more concerned if your kitten isn't eating or using the litter box. Either way, take the kitten to a vet right away.

When you say being sick... Do you mean throwing up? If so that is pretty normal, especially if it is only happening once a month or so.... Now four times a day? That is a little excessive but maybe he just ate something bad. I mean animals get sick alot like we do it is just harder to tell. But if it keeps happening through today I would probably take him to the vet.

Well, A possibility for that is maybe he's getting into a house plant or plants outside?Or have you been switching his food often or giving him cows milk? Any one of those could be why he's been getting sick alot...it is a possibility also that here could be a problem...I have had cats who used to throw up alot and there was nothing wrong with them...it all deoends on the cat and what you are feeding him basically.

It can be normal. What do you mean by sick? Throws up? Hairballs? Try switching his food and seeing if that helps and be sure to brush him regularly to reduce hairballs (the less loose hair on him, the less he ingests) You may want to call your vet and just explain the problem and let them decide if he needs to be seen or not.

I assume you mean vomiting. Once a month is not a big deal. Four times in one day is! Is he eating or not? Is he active or lethargic? Is he urinating and defecting normally? Please call your vet, and have him checked out today. If it persists, regardless of the cause, he will get dehydrated and even more sick.
