I agree, Romeo is the Hero and Tybalt is the villain. While Romea made some very stupid mistakes, he did try to back down from Tybalt for Juliet. Tybalt had murder in his heart from the very beginning.

If you wanted to write the essay from a different POV then most students, you could write it the opposite. You could write an essay supporting the arguement that Romeo was the villain, having no respect for Juliet's parents or family, damaging her honor and making her unmarriagable for a proper suitor chosen by her father. That Tybalt was the hero for trying to defend his families honor.

There both as bad as each other. Romeo ruined peoples lives by gatecrashing the party, stepping in the way of tybalt and mercutio when they were fighting (resulted in mercutio and then tybalts death) and of course, falling in love with Juliet which in the end killed both of them. However tybalt was no saint as he is to other the top and showy off. However when i think about it i'd have to say tybalt to be the villian as he was to over the top and romeo to be the hero as he believed in true love and did whatever he could to love the person he did. But if he really was in julliet, I dno? At the end of it there both really villians and heros (tybalt because he killed mercutio which moved on the story). Soz it is a bit confusing but thats what i think.

neither was the real hero in my opinion because they were both fighting over an old family feud (there are hints in the play that neither family can even remember what the feud was about), not what they would truly believe in if they thought about it.

however, i do think tybalt went looking for fights, making him more of a villain than Romeo who just loved Juliet and wanted to be with her.

i hope that helps you a little bit
