Tell them to leave you alone and ask them what god they are worshipping...so you wont worship that god that reserves his favor only for those who are rich, greedy and powerful
Every sage, avatar or saint - embraced everyone... without differentiating the rich or the poor.
Jesus lived a very modest life. Buddha gave up his princehood to live in the forest.

That is unsat. Publicly showing who donated what is ludicrous. Isn't there a bible verse that says something like don't let others know how sad you are or how great you pray? Isn't that what a Pharisee is? Anyway, I would find another church or not worry about it. You can only do what you can do.
I wonder what kind of decoration it is. Why doesn't the person doing the work donate it?

No one is threatening to break your legs if you decide to go to a different temple or church that is not so blatantly greedy. Giving is something done from the heart, not coerced and manipulated out of you. I wouldn't give to such an outfit no matter if they published my name as a hated non-giver. OK, one time, shame on them, but if I come back again and again, shame on me. They are hucksters, plain and simple.

This is not cool at all. Find a church where they serve the people in need. Where that is their number one priority. We as people are the "Church" not where we sing and pray. Get out and do good for others.

that is bull sh**! You are going to a bad church and you need to leave but not without telling them how you feel first! Money has no place in the house of God. I'm sure you are not the only one who is upset By there ways.

What others think about your giving is not relevant. What is relevant is whether or not you have peace to participate in the decorating renovation and must be the deciding factor regardless of all else.

Being singled out is wrong. What you give for restoration should be between you and God, not the entire congregation. Not everybody has the means to give for every project or ministry. Pray, and God will give you the answer and the means.

I wouldn't go to a church that guilted me into giving them money. If their main concern is getting your money, and showing your status, screw em. I'd find someplace that was focused on what's important in religion - worship.
