by my request for a toast for my cat that had to be euthanized this week? I received a violation notice for it. Is this content something that offends the people who visit the 'cats' section of Yahoo Answers?

Thank you again to all. I was mostly surprised, and was curious whether this was something people preferred to not see. Thanks for your good thoughts and consideration. It's really nice to know that some people understand the loss a person feels when a pet dies, especially one you've had through most of your adult life.

Not me...I actually thought it was touching.
I "raised a toast" to you and your beloved cat.
Here's one more hug for you.

Personally I didn't see your original request as I am new to the site but who could possibly have taken offence at such a request? After all surely everyone who is answering these cat questions are cat lovers and would have loved to have remembered your cat in such a lovely way.

Some moron probably thought you were toasting to the fact that your cat died. Some people see a question and immediately take it as offensive. You have to be very careful of how you word your questions on this site.

I can't imagine why. It wasn't anything offensive it was a nice request for a celebration of your cats life. Probably some christian who didn't think a virtual toast was proper.

I have no idea who gets to pick and chose who gets violated, but your request did not offend me. Humans have wakes and after-funeral luncheons for their dead loved ones, why can't a pet have some recognition in death? There are a lot more offensive questions on here that go unchecked and it is very frustrating to see a genuine question get bumped and obvioulsy smart*** stuff pass thru. Thumbs down to the ones who complained!

sorry that somebody did that.
I'll raise one for your cat now.
I've been through the same. My fiance forced me into getting two cats. I was against it cause we lived in apartment that didn't allow them, so we had to sneak them in and keep them off the windows. We had them for 6 months before we had to put the first one to sleep. As it turned out both had feline lukemia. all the cats that were in the rescue center had it. The second one diead after another 6 months. He was much stronger, but died as well. I still miss him, he was "my boy"
enen though i wanted nothing to do with them, i fell in love with both. please toast my cats as well, Coal was the energetic black male, who i loved to play with, Spice was the female Callico that my fiance adored.
