$40 looks to be about the best offer going. I'm just curious to see what's on this old real so I'm not sure if I want to spend $40 to satisfy the curiosity. Anyhow - anyone know of anything even less costly for just a single real of old 8mm film transfer?

this link http://www.homemoviedepot.com/cart/index.php?main_page=pricing will take you to a site that will do it for $0.10/foot plus a $20.00 DVD fee to a 50 foot roll will come between $25.00-$30.00. that's probably the least expensive option.

the only other best solution would be to track down a friend/acquantance who has access to an 8mm film projector just so you could watch it to satisfy your curiousity.

you can also look the pawn shops/flea markets/garage sales/goodwill stores looking for an inexpensive projector and view it on a white wall...

good luck

DO IT YOURSELF... because all the $40 is going to get you is the following proceedure.
1. Show your 8mm film on a small screen, white, and put it perfectly in focus.
2. Film the small screen with a digital movie camera. Keep the camera stationery at all times.
3. Transfer the digital camera information to your computer and then load it onto the DVD burning hardware. This could happen all in one step, or
4. After the digital camera minutes are loaded on your hard disc, then transfer it to a DVD burner.

That's all they do at a camera shop. Can you handle that at home, or a friend's house?
