If you want a cheap tv then its always cheaper on line, as long as you have checked out the seller ( try www.pricerunner.co.uk )
If you want a deal, then some shops have half priced stands, and give you all the info on how best to connect and look after.
John lewis will give you a 5 year warranty free ( but it is just the manufactures, so nothing special ).
Hope this helps wg

For the TV try empiredirect. They have some top brands at probably the best prices around.
Alternatively Woolworth's and Argos do some not so well known brands.
The top brands they do are often limited to certain models though.
Better of going some where which has several different models on show, that way you get to see before deciding which is best suited to you and your requirements (e.g. # of scarts, # of s video and HDMI connectors, as well as the look)
As for the stand, Argos.
Although stands can be bought almost anywhere, including empiredirect, it depends on your personal style and if you have a price/budget in mind.

Don't go to the Sony shop, they will rip you off, try Ebay or pricetracker with the model you want and find a decent supplier. Some suppliers do deals and offer discounts on buying a stand as well so go for a bit of research, you have to be well prepared to spend all that money.

Have a look on eBay, but be wary unless they're an established seller with a good rating.
Otherwise, the prices in shops are all prettty competative.
