this girl is more popular than me. she often says hi to me in the hallway, and i managed to get her SN (asking about homework help), she just broke up with her BF. i really want to talk to her get to know her than ask her out. but when she is on her SN she 90% of the time would say she has to do something. what shold i do.

First off, popularity shouldn't matter so don't worry about it.
Build up your confidence then approach her. Don't talk to her for a while but when you do, don't mention anything about having interest in her (as hard as it is.)
Just ask her how things are going and if she's feeling better about what happened with her boyfriend. Slowly start talking to her and getting to know her. Wait until eventually she just IMs you. Don't chase her, let her come to you! Just try to find a way to show her you're interested without making it too obvious.
If 90% of the time she has something to do, its probably because she doesn't wan't to start talking to anyone because she's getting over her ex. Or maybe she's not interested.. but don't give up!
Anyways, there's a zillion other girls out there so don't sweat it if one doesn't like you back!

If she just broke up with her boyfriend, maybe you had better give her some space and not push wanting to date her right now, and maybe she has a lot do and does not have time for dating, but talk to her anyway and see what she has to say, then you can go from there. At least she does say hello to you.

I say talk to her then go for it. I mean what have you got to loose? If theres a pretty girl you like just go for it ask her out. If she says no you can always still talk to her and be friends
