Are you kidding. Most people want thick hair. Get a good cut that will help it look its best. Condition it daily, and be proud. You will not be able to alter the texture of hair.

Well, you can change the texture of your hair with chemicals (perms, straighteners and color), but you don't even have to go that far. A good cut makes all the difference--ask your stylist to thin it out with layering. Make sure you're using the proper shampoo, not just the 'best'. Look for one that says 'smoothing'. Also a frizz serum will help. John Frieda makes a few, but there are tons of other brands. Look for one for thick, coarse hair.

find a good asian hair dresser (they totaly just come from asia, or they learn the technique there), they should be able to help you to do some smooth, not chungky, thinning with you hair.
you cant change the texture of your hair, but "japanesse straightening" or usually called "rebonding" will help to smooth out the texture.
