No I would rather get a cat from a shelter and use the money to get it fixed etc etc.... there are too many cats without homes and so many animal shelters are packed.... each to their own though.... I guess some people are willing to put that much into a "specific" cat.... I would rather save a kitty form a shelter............

I think it's worth the money if you're really interested in buying the cat. From what I read (below) I think it's worth the money if you have it:

The Toyger is a designer cat. It is designed and bred with the demands of modern apartment life as a human companion foremost in mind. Glittered, pelted, dramatic pattern appeals to both the high-tech glamour and nature-loving, wild dreams of city-caught people while the laid back, easily trained character of these cats make them a joy to live with.

The Toyger is a breed in development. Recognized by TICA for Registration Only early in the 1990's, Preliminary New Breed in 2000 and lovely even now, the goals for the breed are long term and the prospect even more exciting! Several of the features proposed have never before been recognized as possible in a domestic cat. Progress is slow but steady in all areas from companionability to appearance. The Toyger will be showing in its new TICA status of Advanced New Breed May 2006.

This breed is of and for the computer age. Computer imaging help breeders determine what they want , how far off a cat might be and how to improve the progeny. Email and lists make friendships blossem, communication of ideas and photos immediate, cross country mating matches arranged, etc. etc. Webpages like this allow breeders and groups to inform the public and further better understanding of breeds and pet choices.

Lizzie, go to an animal shelter, and repeat all of that b^llsh!t you just typed to the workers there. Toygers should be banned, and now we will have kitten mills across the country creating badly bred knockoffs. They don't look or act like tigers, they are simply very expensive tabby shorthairs.

I think that the breeders who create "designer dogs & cats" should acquire a 10,000 dollar surety bond to help pay for the loads of misbred animals in shelters that will surely come after they praise their "breed".

4,000 dollars can pay for several years of taking care of a homeless mongrel cat. People like you Lizzie make me sick to my stomach.

Absolutely NO! I would assume that a toyger, bread to look and act like a TIGER, would not be the best pet. I LOVE tigers....but would never ever consider one as a pet.

No way. There are too many cats abandoned at the animal shelter every year.

I'd rather go to the animal shelter...........it's a better way to get an animal and you might even find the specific breed your looking for if your lucky

Nope, a $1000 cat can get a rich home easily... shelter cats can't.

I bought my beautiful Abysinnian female kitten from a breeder for $900. She was worth every penny & interacts with my 10-year old daughter & all of our family wonderfully. She has no bad habits & has lots of personality. We are even thinking about getting ANOTHER ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
