If you're talking about the traditional Southern banana pudding (layer of Nilla Wafers covered with banana slices and vanilla pudding topped with whipped cream), my secret ingredient is to use real whipped cream, not Cool Whip. Real whipped cream is very easy to make if you have a mixer.
You chill the bowl, beaters and heavy cream in the freezer for about 5 minutes. Then you beat the cream (start on low and work up to high speed). Add sugar and vanilla to suit your taste. Once stiff peaks start to form, you're done. Be careful though, if you overbeat the cream you'll get butter.

condensed milk and whipped cream. You can even use instant pudding mix. Mix the condensed milk with a small bowl of Cool-Whip. Mix the instant pudding ( vanilla )according to directions on the package. Let the pudding mix set in the fridge for about ten minutes and then take it out and mix in the mixture of Cool Whip and condensed milk. Layer with vanilla wafers and sliced bananas then top with either more whipped cream or egg white meringue. It is absolutely the best.

Here are three recipes for you to try...
Banana Split Pudding
20 servings
15 min prep
3 1/2 ounces banana cream instant pudding
16 ounces frozen whipped topping
1 cup milk, cold
20 ounces crushed pineapple, well drained
4-5 medium bananas, sliced and dipped in lemon juice (reserve some for garnish)
5-6 strawberries, sliced for garnish (optional)
1 (8 ounce) box chocolate wafers
Place milk in a large mixing bowl, Add the pudding and beat 2 minutes or until thoroughly mixed.
Add the whipped topping and beat until both mixtures are combined.
Stir in the pineapple, place in refrigerator for 10 minutes.
Spoon about 11/2 cups pudding into a glass 4-quart bowl.
Top with 8 chocolate wafers, then bananas.
Repeat layers ending with pudding.
Spread whipped topping over pudding, place chocolate wafers around the rim of the bowl, add sliced strawberries as a garnish.
Chill 4 hours until set.

2 2/3 cups milk, cold
1 (5 1/8 ounce) package vanilla instant pudding mix
3 cups chocolate wafer cookies, whole cookies
1 medium banana, firm, sliced
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
1 (8 ounce) can crushed pineapple, drained
2 (8 ounce) containers Cool Whip, thawed reserve 1 tub for topping
1/4 cup pecans, chopped
1/4 chocolate wafer cookies, crushed (for topping)
1 maraschino cherry (For center of Top)
In a bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes.
By hand fold in the bananas,pecans, strawberries, pineapple, chocolate wafer cookies and 1 container cool whip.
Transfer all to a large bowl.
Top with cool whip and crushed cookies and One cherry

Layered Banana Pudding Dessert
INGREDIENTS:
1 cup vanilla wafer cookies, crushed
1 package vanilla pudding mix (cook and serve), 3 ounce
2 ripe but firm bananas
1 package strawberry-flavored gelatin powder, 3 ounce
1 cup whipped topping or sweetened whipped cream
PREPARATION:
Spread half the crushed wafers in the bottom of a buttered 8 x 8-inch square pan. Prepare pudding mix according to package directions; spoon hot pudding over crumbs. Slice one banana; arrange over pudding.
Top with remaining crumbs. Chill for 1 hour. Meanwhile, prepare gelatin according to package directions; chill for 30 minutes or until partially set. Pour over crumbs. Slice remaining banana and arrange over gelatin. Spread whipped topping over all. Chill banana pudding dessert for 2 hours before serving.
