I did in the year 6 years ago, (before the witch hunts of 2001-2003).

My wife at first mocked me. So did my daughter,, and my mother-in-law. But now they feel much differently after a very serious incident in which someone was treathening them.

I am selective when it comes to disclose my beliefs to people around me.

Becoming a Wiccan was not an issue for me, but it sure was for some other people who suddenly began attacking me because of my beliefs.

When people finds out what Wicca is really about (that is not as portrayed by some Christian leaders), the people feel much better with us around. That is a fact.

However, it doesn't matter that we are Pagans or Wiccans, what matters is that all of us trully love our neighbors regardless of their religious beliefs and we trully live in peace with everyone, even if others do not want to live in peace with us.

I came out of the broom closet first at work. I started wearing very obvious pagan t-shirts, when people would ask if I know any witches/wiccans, I would say things like "Yes, we try to do all the seasonal rituals" or "I see one every morning when I shave"

Was it an issue at work? Not really, they think I'm weird anyway.

I came out to my parents about three months before they were to attend my wedding, so they wouldn't be shocked by the ceremony, and because my wife convinced my it was time they knew.

Was it an issue with my siblings? No. Was it an issue with my parents? Yes, they are Baptist and it went against everything they had grown up believing. That and I had been baptized twice. They accept that it is my choice, but still hold out hope that I'll come around, though they do not push.

Hmm well I'm not Wiccan, I'm Asatru.

Well when people at work found out that I was a Pagan, most of them thought it was pretty neat, asking me all sorts of questions about my Thor's hammer and how I practiced my religion. Now when one of the (fundamentalist) supervisors found out she started making things difficult at work for me, the job became intolerable. I decided to get a different job because it was just too much. I found that all my friends were pretty accepting.

Now I've told my family what religion I practice but they don't seem to listen, for some bizarre reason many of them think I'm an Atheist simply because I do not worship their God. This confuses me to no end because I'm a polytheist and I have told them that many times.

I was blessed. I was raised going to an Episcopalian church, a Metaphysical Church and celebrating the seasons, etc. in Earth Based Spirituality. My parents wanted us to have an educated choice before we chose a path. My sister is Methodist and I follow the Old Religion and walk a Celtic path. So when I made my choice, there was no problems for me. If this is something you are thinking about doing I wish you luck and compassion.

I dont' mean to offend anyone. I just want to offer some food for thought. I use to practice witchcraft while it was still unpopular. It worked for a short while then my like became a living hell for many years. Christians sometimes say that just because you are a Christian doesn't mean bad things won't happen anymore, well I am the exception. I am richly, richly blessed. I have been through Hell. I fear the Lord. I read the Bible everyday and pray that God keeps me safe. 30 yrs ago I would have never imagined being so happy. I now understand the meaning of "seek God first and he will give you your hearts desires" My cup overflows with blessing. We have plenty to share.

I hope that your experience with wicca will lead you down my same path.

When I came out I had a father who was looking in to it as well. I helped him out too. My mom was just killed by the news. she is now coming out of it. I've been trying to teach her that I don't kill people or animles. that was the hard part. Now grandparents.... I told them but they still think I'm cristian. Friends should like you for you not for what you believe. My hubbie's Christian. I told him from day one. "PAGAN!!" he doesn't care. as long as I'm happy. give people the facts when they are ready to hear them But don't Burst out of the closet. not everyone is ready for the news. so pray to the Lord and Lady and ask for there help. They helpped me through alot. Good luck and blessed be.

Witches in movies can be portrayed as hot. But in reality Wiccans are almost always pretty damn ugly. The soul of Christians are also ugly however.
