I was just browsing around on Yahoo Answers and came across this question of yours.
Just to be certain as to the height you could take a tape measure with you to the store if you are physically going somewhere to look at stools to ensure you have enough room. IKEA has several stools of different heights. If you live near IKEA you can actually pull one of the stools up to one of their display kitches to verify it is the right height for you.
