ALL TVs handle the 1080 signal....that's a universal signal for all HD TVs.....

The 1080P is for Blu-Ray and HD-DVD players....

You want to know the NATIVE RESOLUTION of the TV's display.....

Is it 720 or 1080 ?
The stickers on the front of the TV can help....a 1080P TV will be 1080 Native no matter what.

The rest of the TVs out there, ask the Salesman, then don't trust his answer.....
THEN go to www.bestbuy.com and look up the model. The nice thing about best buy is that their first information page IMMEDIATELY shows you the NATIVE RESOLUTION of the TV set !

I like that....right up front, no looking around for it.

Ask to find the TV's native resolution

usually either 1366x768 (720p) , or
1920x1080 (1080p)
(Read the TV's specs)

Many 720p TV accept 1080p inputs, but they scale them down to 720p
