go to your public library and see if yours has a membership. My local library has a membership to Ancestry.com so I can use that to search for ancestors.

Hey Twinkle,

The fees for Birth Records is not outragious if you go to the municipality (in cyberspace). I have paid as little as $4 for a birth record. If you go to the STATE or Country records, they are 10 to 20 times that expensive.

Type in to a YAHOO SEARCH "VITAL RECORD " and up will come the place to get the applications. Also, there is FAMILY SEARCH, that gives the Dates is not a record. Or the BMD sites. Alternatively, you could go to a GENFORUM for the SURNAME, and ask people on the forum if they might have the persons record.

Most of this assumes you are related, people will ask.

I don't think that anyone with an account would post their account information. If you don't want to try your local library, you might want to post the information you have on the person you are looking for and ask for help. Keep in mind that this is a worldwide forum, so it is imperetive that you post the persons name, LOCATION, and approximate time frame along with anything else that could help. If the person that you are looking for is dead, this forum might be able to help. If the person is alive, remember that birth records are not pubic information . There are a few birth indexes out there that might have some living people in it, but there is not one for every state and certainly not one for every country.

Also, assuming you are American, if ther person is living and you are only interested in a date you could try the following website

http://www.birthdatabase.com/

This is a free site. Good luck to you.

is there a reason you cannot contact the county clerk where the person was born for a birth certificate?
