I used to work at Mt. Hood Meadows. I'd recommend you look for a place in Government Camp. If that's too expensive, move further down the mountain, perhaps in Welches, or on the other side, in Parkdale or Hood River. I suppose it's a bit ironic to suggest you stay at Timberline Lodge, but it is a gorgeous place!

I agree with Kathy the best would be to stay at Government camp. There are few hotels and condos that you can rent. If you are restrained by the budget you can stay at a hostel like place. There is one like next to East Bowl skiing area.
If you prefer to stay in a nicer place Timberline Lodge would be a place to go.
Government camp has free shuttle buses going to other skiing areas, and is very convenient place to stay.
