If it weren't for the reality that there would be people hurt and killed in the conflict, I would LOVE to see Venezuela try to take on The Netherlands. Venezuela would soon find out that they are no match for the Dutch. While Venezuela could quickly capture these islands, there would be a lot of resistance from the locals, and The Netherlands would, in the end, kick their butts.

Here is the one indisputable disadvantage Venezuela has: lack of organization, which is endemic all throughout the continent. There is a huge difference, for example, between the way the U.S. military fights, and that of a country like Italy. Good strategy and excellent organization will prevail every time.

While the Netherlands may not have all the equipment it needs for a long range war, the U.S. and England will gladly lend them whatever they require.

This war would be similar to the Faulkland Islands dispute between Argentina and England. Argentina had one aircraft carrier, which was like a symbol of national pride, and one of the first things the English did was sink it, thereby sinking any hope Argentina had of lasting long enough in battle to prevail.

We can almost be assured cuba will stay out of the conflict, because we can intercept any type of aid long before it reaches Venezuela. Castro knows we don't need much reason to really punish him for interfering, and we'd slap him around really hard for this.

I think he gets his butt handed to him on a platter. The Dutch have a very lax military but don't mistake that for ineffective.

A tin horn dictator of a third world country might be able to cause some problems but. My guess is the Dutch either kick him out or let him have it without a fight. They are in the end Euroweenies. The Spanish didn't seem to have too much trouble over running the Dutch when they did it.

i think that hugo chavez will not, create any
problems in the antilles,he is absolutely not looking for a military confrontation, with either the dutch and there navo allies (read usa) and give the us a reason to kick him out.
the dutch themselves having a small but modern navy and for sure can reach caracas from the seaside.........
but it will not happened.

If Holland is liberal, they'll surrender within days without a fight.

If Holland is conservative, they'll ask for help from allies and fight for their people.

It's as simple as that. Liberals don't have a clue what it means to protect and defend their people; they're cowards who don't deserve to hold public offices.
