Her jaw is swollen, and so is the back of her neck.

I had the same problem with one of my cats.......she had to have her teeth cleaned. The very back teeth were very bad in terms of gingivitis and he is only 3 years old, eats special teeth tartar control treats and special cat food plus he is an indoor cat.
Hope this is all helpful.
One other point I would caution if your cat is outdoors cat........he/she could have picked up something outside and needs treatment. Maybe a call at least to your vet would be great!

Is she eating? Has she been outside? Is she fixed? It sounds like an abscess from a puncture wound from a fight with another cat.
If she was having a disagreement with another cat and he bit her on the back of the neck, the bite could have become infected. The little puncture would scab over quickly but the infection would be still there.
Or she might have an infected tooth abscess.
Its hard to tell but I think you should take her to the vet. If I'm right, the vet will drain the abscess, (will be icky) and give her a shot of antibiotics. You will also get pills or a liquid to give her. (Some fun)
You can't use home remedies. Take her to vet.

Take Your Cat To The Vet

You may want to check with the vet, he may have an infected tooth, or may have been bitten by something.

If you do not see any visible cuts or scratches, you can try looking inside your cats mouth, but if it is sore he probably will not be very happy to let you do that.

I think you should call the vet, and if he and/or she recommends that you bring him in for a checkup, this would be the best solution.

Good luck to you and you cat.

Why in God's name are you wasting time posting a question on the web when you should be rushing her to the vet? It's not normal and it's probably serious!!! If she's an outside cat, she could have gotten bit or hit by something. Get her to a vet ASAP!!! No one on the web can give you any answers. Do what's right for your cat!

I worked at a vet office for about 6 months. Saw alot. Best bet is either she has a bad tooth and it is infected or she has an abscess. Either way you should take her to a vet.

It could be a few things...she may have an infected tooth...if she goes outside she may have had a fight with another cat got bitten and it has become infected.
Either way you need to get her to the Vet ASAP...no matter what it is you can't treat it yourself.

Good luck!

take her to the vet she probably has an abcess and it needs to be drained very quickly. She could die from infection.
