My husband's 14 yr old niece's birthday party is tonight and have no earthly idea what to get her. Not really sure what she likes and won't get to talk to her to find out. But she has just about everything from laptop to hot pink golf cart her grandpa gave her and we don't know what to get her! Gift card...CDs...manicure...what? Any ideas?

Too bad that everyone is trying to replace mom with material things. Maybe give her a certificate for a day of fun with YOU! You can go shopping, see a movie, have lunch, spend some time instead of money...sounds like she needs that more than the stuff...
I feel sorry for the ones that are lavishing her with gifts, she's okay she has everything, it's the others that have the crisis.
Have a great time with her, she needs that more than things, after all, don't we all?

For my seventeen year old I bought several giftcards. I handmade a card with a little story about the perfect Satuday. The day included eating and shopping and a movie. I drew simple pictures to go along with each giftcard and taped the giftcard to the page. It was a success.

I would just get her a nice card and some money in it with a little note--You are 14 now so get a job babysitting and learn how to make money and have fun doing it! Jill R

I agree with Teddy bear.
Material things will not replace her mom. She needs lots of good old fashioned love. I mean unconditional love. Take her out with you and show that you do care for her. You can not buy any thing that she is in need of. She needs someone who cares for her and loves her. You remember the Beatles' song "Money can't Buy You Love"? How true it is. Take her out for a day (just you and her alone) give her some quality time with someone who can show her love. Take her on a hiking trail , a nature park, or some historic site so that you can talk. She needs an adult mentor in her life.
Good Luck.

We have nephews like that and its sickening.
We just buy them Visa gift cards so that they can buy MP3's online or whatever....They seem to like it...it's more fun than cash because it's their own "credit card" ...and it makes online shopping possible for a child...my nephew got an ipod and had to sit with his dad to buy songs ...this way...he can buy his own while dad keeps watch for appropriatness...but the kids running the show...he seems to get a kick out of that.

Depends on the amount of money you want to spend. You could always get her a plain scrapbook (she can decorate it up) & some starter stickers & embellishments, so that she can document all the fun adventures she has. Or you could get her a gift certificate to your local spa, for a day of fun....Depends, Good Luck!

I would say try something like dance lessons, or an instrument, guitars seem to be the fad, a pink guitar, or something like that. It's more beneficial than it is material, especially since you say she has everything. Maybe concert tickets? Try going to ticket master and seeing if there any cool artists playing in your area.
