Recent headlines? Last number saw all the branches were meeting expectations. The Marines re-enlistment rates are up. We are no where near a draft. But I would say that a draft should be expanded to include women...equality right!?

According to all sources, they will not initiate a draft. The military has actually loosened the recruiting standards and are now accepting people with certain criminal backgrounds that would usually not be accepted. I doubt this will get enough people to cover the military needs, and that is why the American people are seeing several units with multiple deployments over the last 4 years, and until we are officially done in Iraq and Afghanistan, you will see veterans with more than just 2 or 3 deployments, and some have already served back to back deployments (meaning they were not given a full year at home). I would not be surprised by talk of a draft, as the government has recently tested the equipment used to pick the draft numbers, but they claimed it would not be used.

I think there are plenty of women who would be willing to serve on the front lines, the problem is not with how they would do under fire, the problem is if they would be a distraction to other soldiers (ie the men). You would not want people falling in love in a war zone, and I believe this is the main reason they are not drafted. Now, there are women service members who are deployed, but they are not "front of the line" jobs.

Yea, I'm pretty sure there's going to be a draft. It has to happen sometime. I don't think women should be drafted but like the other guy said, if they want to sign up then it's good. The whole war is pretty much pointless due to not really fighting for the same reasons as we did when the Iraq war has just started.

The draft would only work if people loved this country, and nobody that I know would fight if they were drafted. They'd rather be jailed or flee to Canada, a country where although you have to put up with french assholes, you truly have a democratic government.

I have read these stories, believe me,I am still on inactive reserve.I have not read anything about the draft however.
If it does happen though, rest assured it will happen only after they have reactivated the IRR.Basically draft is a last resort and I am sure will not happen.
Hugh Morrison is a scumbag who has never fought for anything.Do no listen to his traitorous nonsense.

No to women being drafted, but if they wanted to sign up I wouldn't have a problem with it.

The one moron in Congress who introduced a bill to bring up the draft actually voted against it when it was brought up for vote.

BUT then Charlie is not the sharpest knife in the drawer.

With the lack of new recruits, the draft may be enforced soon.

The veterans scandal may have disheartened prospective applicants.
