Humans are vague creatures, prone to whims, and fancies. Not cold, logical and loyal only to the Hive (is that the right term?). I doubt they would unite as one, for very long, even if their survival depended upon it.
You may, of course, doubt that, as you read these pages, considering the number of times "You must assimilate" (or variations on that theme) is bandied about...

It doesn't matter what religion, race, culture & creed someone is. You just learn to respect them as a human being and get along.
This is what the USA is made up of already. So we already know that it can be done. Now if all these other countries could figure it out we'd have it made. Peace at last!!

Are you kidding? Religion is the number one cause of division amongst human beings in the world. It encourages the attitudes of superiority and arrogance, intolerance and hatred of those who are not "like" them or have different beliefs. It will never cause the world to unite. That's up to God, not religion.

LOL @ pet 6 of 10. Nice one.
In my more optimistic days I think sure! Give us 10000 years (not long given the timescale the universe works on) and we'll sort ourselves out.

The Roman Catholic Church is working towards unity with other religions. The Angelican Church may reunite with the Roman Catholic Church and we are also creating better ties with the Orthodox Church.

No, I think religion will slowly die out. Then most people will be 'one' only in the sense of being more scientific beings.

The Bible predicts it will be attempted. Amazing how those opposed to Christianity so often confirm its validity.

There will never be just ONE - too many individuals, fanatics, zealots and weirdo's will forever argue that theirs is better than the others!
