My friend is in the St.Louis children's hospital currently with problems with her brain stem. I don't want to ask her if it's serious...I'm too scared. So I was hoping someone here would know if it was or not.

The brainstem has so many important centers in it, that it is hard to say. The brainstem has respiratory centers, breathing centers, and Reticular activating system (responsible for alertness). Also 4 different cranial nerves branch off from the brain stem. Ask her for more information about the condition, then look it up, or ask another question here to see if it is serious. Good luck!

in the experience that your backbone became into putting tension on your brainstem, you would be lifeless i'm sorry to declare. The brainstem controls the failings at the same time with respiration and the guts, and any harm to it could have severe effects. If the brainstem is broken, those issues provide up functioning and the guy is seen braindead. there are a number of reasons of problems, from quite benign to malignant, and each little thing in between. I recommend you're taking some painkillers, some caffeine, and bypass lie down someplace quiet, in line with possibility even get some sleep. If the soreness persists, or gets worse, bypass see a doctor.

very. That controls everything, like knowing to breathe is one. Also everything that your internal organs do that you never have to think about. The brain stem is responsible for that. Hope your friend gets better.

your brain stem controls your respiratory rate, heart rate, among other things. Sorry to say but it could be a serious condition. Good luck.

Don't panic, but ask more questions. Everything the earlier people wrote is true
