We're getting married June29th, but it's private and only our children there. We're throwing a big casual reception the following day and will be sending out invitations for that, only. How soon should the Reception invitiations be sent out? It's the end of June, the weekend prior to the 4th of July and people tend to be more busy in the summer.

To make sure that they get them in plenty enough time and time enough to respond than eight weeks before would be perfect. This way if they work they can book it off and wont have a problem with their boss seeing as its two months before. As well as lots of people start making their summer plans in may and june, so before they take off too much time of work than having the invitations out a head of time will give them lots of notice.
Congrats

Wedding reception invitations are typically sent out 4 - 6 weeks prior to the event. I would not send them any sooner than 8 weeks before since people tend to forget.

Andrea, I consider fizzy stuff. What the heck? Why do you're able to deliver the invites ASAP, yet you nevertheless have not got a reception corridor/venue? that's slightly risky to deliver out invites to the marriage with not something planned so some distance as a reception. What in case you won't be able to discover a place? Sorry, yet I certainly have on no account heard of sending out the invites with out additionally sending concepts on the subject of the reception. the two in basic terms go at the same time. So....get busy securing a venue, THEN deliver the invites with the reception concepts at the same time.

Send out save the dates asap. Then send out the invitations at the 6-8 week mark.

Since the Fourth of July is a big holiday I would suggest mailing the invites in May. That way it will give people plenty of notice in advance. I'm afraid if you wait until June people will have made prior plans.

Do a save the date now (or within the week)
and the actual invite 4 weeks prior.

That gives people plenty of time to know and reassure them of your reception and can build their summer time around this.

You can go to some Hallmark stores and find cute invites or have them made - with your "wedding" stationary.
Go browse there or in the back of Martha Stweart weddings.

About 6-8 weeks before.

You would only invite to the reception those people who were invited to your ceremony. The idea of having a reception is a time for people, family and friends, to celebrate what they witnessed at the marriage ceremony earlier.

4 weeks prior to the event. If you think others may have other obligations or plans, send out pre-invites asking them to mark the date on their calendars and that formal invitations will be following. That works great, gets people ready and gets your date on their calendars.
Congradulations!
