"When police asked the immigration officers what they were doing with the immigrants, they gave contradictory explanations, leading police to detain both them and the Chinese, police said.

In the past, some immigration officers have been known to allow or help undocumented immigrants on their way to Mexico's northern border — where they usually try to enter the United States — in exchange for bribes."

What do you think?

I would say so. There was an article recently where Mexico was going to soften it's immigration policies since they were expecting us to, especially on the southern border.. They knew full well it was just a pit stop on the journey to the US, so it is hardly a sacrifice. Besides...more money to make for the smugglers.

This comes not too long after the story about the Mexican government debating the idea of giving... (I don't know what to call them... potential illegals?) them GPS systems to help them cross the borders?
The idea that individual immigration officers, or the government as a whole is helping illegals from another country does not surprise me. They fully realize that these people are not going to STAY in Mexico, so why should they care? They're just passing through, and the more help they give them, the faster they're out of Mexico. Not surprising at all.
I think that as long as our borders are open (BUILD THE DAMN FENCE) they're going to keep coming, both from Mexico and through Mexico, with the government's blessing.

Mexican officials are notoriously corrupt. There is no doubt that the Mexican immigration officers were helping the illegals for bribes.

What is amazing is that the police arrested the illegals and the immigration officers!

I don't think Mexican police need more than a vague scent of money to do anything that is asked of them. They do not have any grand scemes, they are simply corrupt.

i think we need the fence put up, and i also think we need to fire the immigration agents that are in and replace them with new agents. this is one of the reasons the fee is going up to become citizens, they are planing on hiring more agents.
