I've heard it put 3 different ways. One, simply yes. Two, simply no. And three, that its okay to do it, but it becomes a sin if it starts interfering with your everday life and duties. I think that last one is most sensable, but I'm still not sure. Care to help?

I`m not sure about the catholic faith but it should make logical sense as to why masturbation is wrong. What is the purpose of masturbation and how does it benefit you(long term)? Read 1 corinthians 13:4. Love has no envy. Love is not forward and self-assertive(or self seeking) Love is not lustful. Masturbation is self seeking , lustful and envious. If God is love and love is God it should be obvious that masturbation is not from God. Good luck.

It is a sin against chastity.
Why?
Because your sexuality is supposed to be a gift GIVEN to your spouse. Masturbation takes the beautiful gift of sexuality and turns it within yourself- it makes the pleasure all about you, when you are supposed to be focused on giving pleasure to your spouse ( your spouse in turn is supposed to focus on your pleasure- so everybody is happy, see how it works?)

Now, a husband and wife are allowed to use masturbation as part of the marital act AS LONG AS the male's climax takes place within the woman so it may be life-giving.

The other problem with masturbation is that it is addictive and it is actually a stronger sensation than normal intercourse. It can actually interfere with the ability to have a fulfilling sexual relationship with your spouse.

If you need to confess it- tell the priest you were impure with yourself...he'll know what you mean.

Yes.

Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).

The Catholic Church recognizes the power of sex when it teaches, "Sexuality affects all aspects of the human person in the unity of his body and soul."

Chastity means the successful integration of sexuality within the person. A chaste person's body and spirit lives in unity and opposes any behavior that would impair that unity.

Masturbation is contrary to the human dignity of the person and anyone about whom the person has lustful thoughts, and the dignity of human sexuality.

Nocturnal emissions are a normal involuntary bodily processes and are not considered sinful.

With love in Christ.

Many Catholics will say masturbation is lustful and sinful. But I'm Catholic and I think is fine and there is nothing wrong with it. Many people say is lustful but isn't lust good? That is what leads humans to procreate and married couples feel lust too. So lust is actually beneficial for society and studie have shown that people who masturbate have a healthy sexual appetite when they have a partner.
