If it has freon it will most likely not be able to be checked as luggage. Freon would be considered hazardous material.

It would depend on its overall dimensions as to whether you would be allowed to take it in the cabin with you and also you will probably want to take a bag on board and you probably won't be able to do both.

Why don't you check it into the hold with your suitcases? Each case must be less than 32 kg at the present time so it should be possible. You might have to pay excess baggage though, depending how much other stuff you are taking. See how much it costs to send it by cargo. That might be the cheapest way.

you can put it in your bag in the hold but that is your allowance you may need to pay excess on your hand luggage, its 13 £ per kilo thats what I had to pay 12 months ago when I came to live in Egypt.
