I was watching Y Tu Mama Tambien last night and they were playing a truth or dare type game (without dare) and I looked the word up and its verdad but in the movie they say something like neta or something. Maybe a slang word or maybe a different dialect? Just curiosity, I only speak a little spanish. Thanks :]

"la neta" is slang in Mexico for "la verdad" = the truth.

It comes from when in the label of a product it says net weight (peso neto in Spanish), and that's the real weight of the product, without the wrapping.

So yes, it's a slang expression to emphasize that you are telling or asking for the truth.
You could ask "¿la neta?" meaning "are you really telling the truth?" or "do you really want me to tell the truth?".

Yeah you're right is a slang word, it has different meanings, but the most common is, "verdad" (truth)

For example in a dialogue it could be:

¿Estás seguro? = Are you sure?

Sí es la neta. = Yes is the truth.

Another meaning.
Really? = ¿Neta?

Verdad means truth. Neto(a) means genuine so it was just another word with a similar meaning.
