In nature those organisms of a species that are better adapted to their ecosystem will have a better chance to survive and reproduce.

This obvious fact of evolutionary biology has been corrupted in some minds to mean that human society should favor the strong, healthy and wealthy. This actually contradicts our understanding of how social animals have evolved. The adaptiveness (fitness) of social animals lies in their evolved capacity for altruism, love and familial and social bonding.

I believe that organisms that are not equipped to handle the dangers and nuances of their environmental niches will not survive long enough to pass their genes on to the next generation. That's what Darwin meant (basically), and I agree.

Does it matter? It's a well-documented scientific theory. It doesn't require belief. And it makes sense on the face of it. The fastest, strongest, or smartest will survive to breed. The rest will be eaten by dingoes.

I believe that it's true, but the implications people make of it I find to be completely unfounded.

It seems to be a platform for macroevolution to many. "Through gradual change, we get changes in species." If this were true, we would see hundreds--possibly even thousands of transitional forms in the fossil record between two given species.
