Define "best". Do you mean taste-wise? Because taste is very subjective. Try a cosmopolitan. Do you mean trendy? Try a Mojito. Do you mean biggest buzz for your buck? Try a long island iced tea.

Its up to what your personal taste is, and it never hurts to try something new. Research is also good, finding recipes to see what ingredients are in there, you definetly would not want to drink something that uses a fruit or something that you might be allergic to or just absolutly hate. Most of all have fun and the link i put in the know your source is a great website to go to, it has a list of almost any drink you would find at a bar including the instructions to make it. I rather enjoy a "Surfer on Acid" but not many bars know how to make it. As someone else said, if you're talking about flavor, it's really subjective & you should try different drinks to see which you like.
If you're worried about what's popular, though, just order whatever one of your friends ordered.

What do you like? I love martinis, but don't drink them at the clubs/bars because the glass is so unwieldly! Vodka/cranberry is nice but kinda old. My favorite mixed drink at the bars is Raspberry Stoli w. soda.

depends on the type of get together....but i'd recomend margaritas and daquaris. most like them blended with ice. they can be made of mny different flavors and are easy to make. you could always get a bartender's bible and just flip through it and randomly pick a drink to make.
personally, i usually go for simple drinks. liqour and soda. that way you don't have to have alot of different mixers. just some rum, whiskey, brandy or vodka mixed with whatever soda suits you.

Colorado Bulldog is quite good!! And if you want a fun shot.......maybe try Duckfarts or Brains or Flaming Hooker! An experienced bartender will know these drinks.

I personally am a fan of a very dirty vodka martini. If you are feeling more adventurous, I say try a Blue Hawaiian. Think coconut, rum, and fruity flavors!
