I looked on Ancestry at the US census records and it seems that people named Averson listed their birthplace as either Sweden, Denmark, Norway which of course are the three northern European countries that make up Scandinavia.

In order to find out what part of Scandinavia your Aversons may come from, I would recommend starting with yourself and finding any and all biographical information about your self. I would then move to my parents and write down everything about them and move back person by person, generation by generation. If you tackle your genealogy in this methodical manner, your country of origins will reveal themselves to you naturally. You could collect vital records, military records, land records, amongst others. Obituaries are sometimes great treasure troves of information as they sometimes give a short biography of where a person was born and other highlights of their lives .

There are a few websites out there that have some Averson information

In the Worldconnect trees at Rootsweb there are 90 hits for the name Averson. Simply follow this link and type in Averson and hit go

Keep in mind that you should always double check any work that you find online with your own research.

I hope this helps. Blessings

Hey Nathan,

Predominantly Denmark. You can look in Family Search by LDS at the site below. The oldest entries are Denmark. This is the likely source/origin.

I believe that the name is a form of the surname "Avery", which is an English surname.
