hi tom.

the straight up answer is YES!

the cluster must be removed from the vehicle and the the new mileage must be programmed into the cluster. The body control module in the vehicle must also be programmed or else their will be problems.

i repair/reprogram clusters all the time for the automotive dealers in my area. The tool cost me $10,000(it is a computer program). i charge $150.00 to reprogram a cluster.

I hope this helps. Good Luck!

difficult question to respond to! it particularly is like asking if we can all stay to the ripe previous age of ninety. you've gotten 2 same automobiles with ninety 3,000 miles yet those miles is easily not same! the driving force of each and every motor vehicle would in no way be same! it rather is quite an extremely obscure question. you certainly should have a "good" mechanic look on the motor vehicle and evaluate it. would be the best hundred greenbacks you ever spent! Is the motor vehicle clean? physique wonderful shape? once you open the oil fill cap is it clean or all gummed up? Is the engine greasy? Any noises, rattles, ticking not usual to an engine? Does the transmission work together remarkable? grasp ok? Shift wisely?4Wheelchronic paintings? How's the CV joints? Rearends? Any noises there? Vibrations? those are purely some questions that want answering. As a mechanic, i'd say no because of the fact the motor vehicle is 10 years previous and each little thing on its 10 years! it particularly is in all probability why it rather is being offered. Engine, transmission, radiator, etc are greater suitable than probable waiting for alternative and extremely severe priced! For me, they're $500 automobiles! era! maximum motor vehicle sellers does not even settle for a 10 twelve months previous motor vehicle on commerce for that very reason i've got purely stated above!

There is no way to roll back the odometer. It is a digital display, so cracking the cluster won't help at all. Also, to prevent fraud (yes, this is illegal to do) the mileage is stored in several of the onboard modules. If one is replaced with a different mileage burned into it, certain features will not operate.

Sure there is a way. But you will be breaking the law. Not to mention you will have to break the factory seal on the instrument cluster to do it. If you do it and sell the vehicle you will be guilty of fraud and will serve time in prison.

The speedometer can be calibrated.... That is your reading for how fast you are going....

If you are wanting to roll back the odometer(how many miles on the car)... yes it can be done, it is not easy, and is illegal.

How many miles could you have on a brand new truck. Besides, that's fraud.
