Exercise doesn’t mean you have to join a gym or go to an aerobics class, although I would highly recommend it. To burn fat, you should exercise at a moderate pace for at least thirty minutes. A moderate pace is one in which your heart rate is elevated but you’re not so winded that you can’t carry on a normal conversation. That is the mode in which your body burns fat stores. High heart-rate cardio work tells your body to burn glycogen and store the fat for later—you don’t want that.
Walk for 30 minutes every day including weekends, Mondays, and Fridays. Do at least 30 minutes of weight training each week. Do 60 minutes of additional, higher intensity cardio each week. You don’t need additional equipment—infomercial products like the Ab Lounger, Sauna Belt, etc. are all worthless gimmicks so don’t waste your money.
Eat breakfast, and eat five small meals per day instead of three big meals. Don’t starve yourself during the day—many low-calorie diets fail because when you go hungry, your body switches to “famine mode” and stores fat for the coming drought. On the other hand, if you don't wake up ravenous, then you ate too much the day before. Stop eating at least two hours before you go to bed.
Cut back on the foods you eat with high fat and high sugar content. Eat only single servings (read the label) with less than 3 grams trans fat and 3 grams sugars. Your primary source of sustenance should be grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts and canned tuna (in water, not oil). No dairy (except low fat cottage cheese occasionally); no processed meats; no heavy sauces; no chips, cookies, sodas, breads, etc.
Another trick I’ve learned about reducing calories is to “clean the pipes”. You can do this by eating more raw vegetables and fresh fruit. You can also streamline the process with fiber supplements. I like Metamucil and Dr. Schulze Intestinal Formula.
Other than a daily multi-vitamin like Centrum Advanced Formula, the only other supplement recommended is an Omega-3 fish oil capsule like Carlson Laboratories Super Omega-3 Fish Oils. Omega-3 is a vital fatty acid that our bodies don’t produce. Omega-3 benefits are wide-ranging and proven by clinical studies. From heart health to depression treatment to pregnancy health, Omega-3 benefits are too good to ignore if you are interested in health.

You don't have to be a gym member to be able to excercise. I go walking every day. I have a pedometer so I can track my steps and distance. It's great! You can also used work out DVDs/videos to excercise. See if any of your friends have some you can borrow. If not, they are very reasonably priced at Wal-Mart/Target or similar stores. I reccomend anything by Denise Austin. She is great, and very postivie and has many different types of programs (cardio, toning, yoga etc.) She also has an early morning show on Lifetime Network (8am Eastern--I think). You might also check and see if your school has facilities for student use. I don't know if you are in college or high school. Most colleges will let students use the gym, pools, equipment for free or a for a reduced price. If you are in hs still, ask your PE teacher if you can use the school facilites.
Since January I've lost almost 20 lbs, but cutting calories and walking. I feel great--and I didn't join a gym!!

I lost 105 pounds in 6 months. Here is how I did it.
1. Every morning get up and walk for 45 minutes. You can start with less time, but you want to get up to 45 minutes, and it must be fast walk. You want your heart rate to go up. It must be in the morning, it kick starts your metabolism.
2. I cut out Red Meat, and fatty foods. Boneless skinnless chicken breast, baked, or grilled, rice and vegetables (steamed).
3. Eat half. Just eat half of what you normally eat. Put 1/2 on your plate, and put the rest away. Cook less. When you go to fast food, get salads only. Or grilled chicken. No fries, only diet soda. Or water.
It will work, once you get into a routine, you will get hooked on the results, and you will keep the routine. It has been over a year for me.
Also start counting your calories. Write them down. You would be amazed as to how much more aware you are of your caloric intake, if you actually write it down. We recently discovered a site that offers a great program that counts calories, as well as keeps track of everything. It allows multiple users, so everyone in the family can keep track. They offer a free 7 day trial, and so far I am very impressed with the product. Try the 7 days and see. It allows you to add the exercise that you do during the day, which increases the amount of calories you can take in. Very Cool!!

You don't need to follow the crowd and get ripped off by a gym. Get a physical part time job. I had to keep running up and down stairs carrying light things for only three days and lost a lot of belly! But I do eat sensibly. If you don't it will be a waste of time weight wise anyway. Otherwise cycling and swimming are the best exercise in the view of the medical profession.

I'm a nurse. Not to worry, you can exercise at home. Dancing to your favorite music on the radio. You can use objects around the house for strength training. I stay in shape by dancing to music (of course it's really fast music) and I look great, it works. Make sure that you are staying away from foods that are fatty and just plain not good for you. Also make sure you are drinking at least 8 to 12 glasses of water a day. Sports are good in losing weight. You will se the pounds just melt off. You can do this, good luck and I wish you all the best.
