For me it was about 8 years ago. On my way out of Christianity, there was a period of about 5 years where I would try a lot.

I prayed about four hours ago... lol.. don't guess I've ever "tried" to pray...

I'm going through some rough times right now, so I do it a lot more than I did a year ago... Hope I can keep it up when the storms have passed... That'd be great.

Just the other day.

I'm an atheist/agnostic and I think prayer can be effective, perhaps we are tapping into that "universal consciousness",
I am pretty dented against praying because of my Irish Catholic upbringing,
but you know, the Muslims and Hindis and Buddhists often get their prayers answered too, even though they are not praying to the "right" god according to you,

They believe in it enough to keep at it, so how do you figure that's happening?
Praying over a petri dish is also effective, does the virgin born Jesus blood sacrifice have to have anything to do with that?

THere are many mysteries to life in the universe.
but, please don't tell me that YOU have them all figured out.

I pray every morning while I drive to the gym. I also pray at night, MOST of the time. I always pray sincerely, or i do not pray at all:)

When was the last time You tried to sincerely read your BIBLE/ U c I know from experience that prayer isn't enough. reading the WORD OF GOD and knowing HIS TRUTH is critical to serving HIM. A person cannot just pray.U have to have a relationship with GOD. omagine yoruself in a relationship where it was all one way, where she spoke and never listened aor asked u to show her the way u felt about something or had any interest in your life and history.would that relationship survive? no. and GOD made the relationship system. so think about it while you read the sermon on the mount and the conversation JESUS had with Nicodemus.

Pray without ceasing.
1Thessalonians 5:17

This doesn't mean to drive down the freeway with your eyes closed, praying, but suggests that one should endeavor to remain in a mindset of communication with the Father. You can "breathe" a prayer anytime you like. The more the better. He likes to hear from you.
