Well, lets see....there's never enough food in the house (even if every cupboard and the refrigerator is completely full- thank the blessed Lord and work)
There's nothing to do....their bored.....(of course room cleaning and chores are never counted)
Ha, ha. I'm going back a bit for these examples, my kids are a bit beyond teenage years now (which means we survived...yay)
It doesn't change, our friends with teenagers are going through the same types of things. One of my friends was going through the horrors of teenage years a couple of years ago.
I was actually dog sitting for her while her and her daughter were away at a Girl Scout function, had let the dogs out in the yard for their run and was waiting for them to come back in for treats and toys...standing at the bottom of the stairs that led upstairs I noticed a bad odor, and thinking one of the dogs had gone to the bathroom upstairs I went up to see what was going on.
Switching the light on for the upstairs hallway, I stared at the floor intently and not seeing any problems but still realizing that I was noticing a "garbage"
smell, I thought oh, noooo it's coming from the daughters room. She was going through the dirty clothes on the floor, dirty dishes and cups on the floor the desk wherever.
My friend had gone through the arguing and fighting with her daughter over it, and just decided to close the door and let the girl run out of clothes and began to realize that she was living in a pigsty.
My friend is an excellent housekeeper, so that was not the reason. Her daughter was going through that messy and beyond stage, and it was tough to get through but they did.
My kids went through it also, but not to that extent, of course our house is all on one level, so it was more difficult for it to be "hidden." If you can survive the messies and the no food in the house syndrome, you will be fine and so will your teens.
Believe me, we count our blessings, they could be doing lots worse...complaining and sloppyness will change.
Have a good day.

What? Isn't everything enough for you!:) She complains about going to school, going to bed, not enough clothes, not enough shoes; the lunch today; some other student; some teacher; not enough extra curricular activities, not enough time, why i want her to get off the phone after spending 2.5 hours, why she should pack away her clothes, why she should iron her clothes. GET THE IDEA!
