IE7 Update seems to have screwed up my connection to updates.microsoft.com?

Question

I just finished installing IE7 on a windows 2003 server and now it wont seem to let me get to microsoft's update website. I checked DNS already...

It ends up changing my url to http:/// and then giving me the address is not valid error.. anyone experience this before??

Please do not answer unless you have valid / useful comments...

1. http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ takes you to
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us This is the site when you click in IE7 tools/windowsUpdate.
2. Type the URl in address bar and try.
3. Select Automatic Updates
Control Panel/Automatic Updates/
select " notify me ........etc "
4. All programs/accessories/System tools/ Activate windows
This may not be neccessary if you have downloaded IE7
from windows update site.
I have Xp Pro sp2 IE7
