Mom lives with my sis, my sis takes all her money, and keeps her house dirty..(which i have cleaned) mom is losing memory,so she can't live alone, and sis won't let her live with her other children, she says she is the best one to live with, which is not true... my sis has a son inlaw that stills my moms pills, and doesn't want to say anything to start trouble, my question is how can i get mom out of there without having to go to court, are there elderly programs that can help? Thanks

I don't know where you live but there are programs available for help caring for senior citizens with health problems. Has your Mom made out power of attorney papers stating a specific child to handle her financial matters? If not she really nees to get 1 made out. Also she needs to have a Medical power of attorney paper paper drawn up. These papers will be very important when she gets worse so that 1 person can handle things without causing a lot of problems with other family members.

This is a very hard thing to deal with and there are not alot of programs to help. I actually have a cousin that is going through the same thing. Does anyone have power of attorney? If not maybe you should try to get power of attorney and then you will have a leg to stand on with the courts

Sorry to say, if Mom is not capable to tell you she want to move out, then you probably will have to hire an attorney.
You will need to document every occurrence that causes you concern and be prepared to hurt your sister's feeling - I am sure SHE does not care she is hurting your MOM.
Who in the family has power of attorney? This is very important when you are dealing with an elderly parent who cannot care for her self.
Good luck ! God SPEED! God bless!

Get all the proof you can on what is happening. I dont know what state you live in or the laws of that state. You can search the internet for support on elder abuse because that is what this is. You just may have to go to court to get her out.
