Al Gore is a lying manipulating sleaze bag, and a hypocrite. Al Gore is no more interested in climate change than I am. How can we trust people who lie to us about 9/11? he is lying about that too.

Al Gore is not an environmentalist, he's an opportunist. He saw a subject on which he could capitalize, and he did it very well. He's even been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize for it. That's a pretty good return on his investment.
The idea that Gore wouldn't have done his book and film if he didn't believe in it is ridiculous. It's a business venture. I might not believe in the propaganda in some handbills I'm passing out door to door, but if they want to pay me a boat load of money to do it, I will.
People believe in Al Gore because he's a pseudo-celebrity. Human nature, for some reason, tells us that because we see someone in the limelight, who is fundamentally a good person, that person has some sort of credibility in any subject on which they want to pontificate. It just isn't the truth. Al Gore is no expert on global climate change and many of those so called experts that he likes to quote can be called into question on their motives.
So ask yourselves; what have the global warming non-believers have to lose by telling the truth? And What does Al Gore stand to lose by telling the truth?

Al Gore's super-ego says he cares about global warming. Al Gore's id says he is going to live his life in the comfort he has become used to living. They can take away his presidency but they can't take away his statue; it is resting comfortably in a mansion that contributes twelve times the amount of greenhouse gases as the average American home.

you've got to remember that gore did not write the book, it was written by a ghost writer.
gore was a nothing politician who couldn't have been elected to dog catcher if not for his fathers political fame. he only grabbed onto the global warming theory to get the environmental vote.

You didn't even mention his incredibly energy inefficient house. Another inconvenient truth for the man with the internet plan!

Does this destroy his message?
Or can you not refute his message, so you cast aspersions on him?
To get a big message across in this country requires big moves.
You cannot be a celebrity and actively work without spending far
more money on energy than unknowns.
This "Isn't Al Gore a hypocrit" question seems to come out several
times a day for ... months.
No, sorry, he isn't.

I think he does - but the questions now on the table need to be addressed before we can make judgement on him to say whether he has been misguided in his actions or not.
