I can see where Creationism comes from in some people's literal reading of the Bible, but I'm really stumped about this whole rejection of Newton and gravity thing. So in the non-gravitational universe, what keeps me from bumping my head on the ceiling?

In short, why is gravity so threatening to theists? - for once in my life, really no pun intended.

Actually gravity is one of the arguments that creation scientists use to support what the Bible says. They take this passage from the Bible...

Colossians 1:16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things were created through him and for him. 17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.

...and they point out that atoms should not stay together because the nucleus is made of protons and like charges repel one another. Atoms should be flying apart but the Bible says that because of God's power all things hold together. Gavity is just another function of this principle.

Newton is outdated. Einstein redefined the way we look at gravity in his general theory of relativity

How is gravity a threat to theists? God placed gravity to hold us on this planet.

Evolution is stupidity. if everything evolved over millions of years, then life would not and could not exist.
Evolution is a threat to itself.

I don't get it either and I'm a Christian as well as a believer in Creation (err, and also in evolution, but that's another story lol).

Perhaps they are the type of person who thinks you must believe every single word a person utters or they are complete liars .... there is no in-between. Therefore if they disagree with one part of what Newton said, he must be a complete liar about everything.

I dunno, I'm guessing here lol.

As a lifelong Gravitationalist, all I can say is that the reason you don't bump your head on the ceiling is that the ceiling is an illusion.

Evolution is a fact- gravity is a fact. Ignorant freaks say otherwise.

gravity is a theory where its not understood how it works fully ... evolution is looking at monkeys and then people and fabricating a connection .. its two different types of forming a theory ... one is based on somthing real .. the other is conjecture ...
