My little girl will be one soon, and she is only 20 lbs the norm, and 27 inches. I have noticed a strange thing, she eats like a 5 year old. In the morning some cereal, waffle, or eggs, lunch it'll be chicken, and she'll want a lot of it, and I didn't pay attention. dinner..if she could she would eat everything. I finally noticed it and I took some food away from her because she was already on her 3 one and she just started to cry and cry. I feed her good food, ham, chicken, cereal, eggs, tomatos, chickpeas, she'll eat anything that I'll give her, but she keeps on wanting more. What can I do?? I seriously don't know! HELP!

are real mothers actually answering this question? sheesh.. its NORMAL. let her eat as much as she needs to eat, just feed her healthy things. shes not overweight, she just might be having a growth spurt.. its pretty normal at thatage if i remember correctly that my daughter could eat an entire happy meal (not that that was a "normal" meal) at that age. but a few months later she could barely eat half. Children have different nutritional needs during different times of their lives.. Shes about to walking age, she'll be burning a lot more calories off and need more energy.
omg dont set her up to be an "overeater" already. girls have enough pressure to be thin, please dont put those kind of thoughts into a baby's head.

She might be going through a bit of a growth spurt. My son used to eat 4 pancakes for breakfast when he was that age!!! He was never overweight or anything. They burn a lot of calories when they are going all time time. If she is normal weight, you shouldn't worry about it. Speak with your pediatrician at her one-year and see what he says about it. He'll probably say that as long as she stays within the range of normal, and is eating healthy foods and not loads of junk, that it's nothing to worry about. But try to limit her eating to meals, and snacks. We had 2 snacks a day by then. Make sure she's getting enough milk, too. We have to hide anytime one of us wants to eat or drink anything around here now, my son comes up smacking his lips at the sight of food!

Children go through a lot of growth spurts. These are easy to recognize and deal with...you just feed them good food as much as they want. The much harder to deal with times are the non eating times. I think children store up and then don't need to eat for awhile. As long as your child is a good weight and eating nutritiously I wouldn't worry about a thing!

Feed her what she needs! At age one children dont know what they should be eating. They just eat what u give.

I know a child like this in a nursery i work in, hes 18 months and wearing clothes for 2 1/2 years. For lunch in the nursery the cook sends him extra lunch and he always eats everything. A few times he has ate all his lunch and then a full tin of spagetti hoops by himself. His mum is really big, so i guess we just figure he will be like that.

Your daughter is a normal weight for her height (actually a little smaller than my own son was at that age). As long as what she is eating is the healthy food you describe, let her eat as much as she wants!! Some children metabolize food faster than others, and it's quite possible your daughter is simply one of these. Continue to monitor her height/weight ratio, and as long as she stays within the normal range, allow her to eat all the healthy foods she wants.

You said she will 'soon be one'. Is she still getting formula or breast milk? If not, make sure she is getting the proper amount of whole milk, and a multivitamin if her pediatrician suggests it. In fact, she should be going to her one-year check up soon--talk to your pediatrician about your concerns and get his/her opinion.

Good luck!

My son is one year old and is 25 lbs. and hardly ever eats! It doesn't seem to be hurting her if she is the "normal" weight for her age. If she will eat whatever you give her, just be mindful of what you give her. And try to feed her healthy things if shes gonna eat a lot. And keep in mind that you NEVER put a toddler or baby on a diet without doctors consent! :) GOOD LUCK!

ummm yeah my boy was 20lbs months before his 1st b-day. His weight gain has slowed down alot since. He is about 25-27 lbs now at 1. he doesn't look obese just chubby. I wouldn't worry about it right now Hun. once she starts walking around good she'll start to burn it off and if your worried about her being a big eater just give her alot more veggies so she still thinks shes eating alot but it will be good for her instead of all the carbs. Green veggies if you can.

in the morning give her scrambled eggs toast and orange juice.at lunch give her a sandwich and juice and at dinner give her chicken, rice and water.just for a while so that she gets used to not eating to much and if she cries dont listen just explain to her that u r just doing wat u hav 2....but maybe she just has a high motabalism,go to the docters and talk about it.
and maybe get her into dancing like hiphop or balle to burn all the extra fat.

ps.just 1 serving of all those meals.

good luck!
