I sort of go with Aylssa on this one though any dry food still has grains except the Innova Evo and that can put weight on a lot of cats. I feel the sure fire method to keep cats trim is an all-meat diet. And it must be quality canned food which Wellness has. There is also Natural Balance, Blue, Lick Your Chops, Avoderm, Innova. That's what my three male cats eat along with a raw meat diet I prepare. All are trim and well-muscled cats 10-12 pounds in weight.
I can almost quarantee that switching to the meat will take the excess weight off your cats and the QUALITY is very important for the cats - no Fancy Feast, Whiskas, Friskies or Science Diet which all use by-product meat in their formulations.

My vet has sample packs (5 each) of wet and dry food that is good for kitties who have had weight loss because of illness. The good thing is you can try each one and see if your cat prefers one over another.
Have you seen your vet to find out why the cat lost weight. Also, your vet many have recipes for food you can try at home. Boiled chicken cut into tiny pieces with a little rice is OK for cats. Good luck.

Innova Evo or Wellness Super5 Lite. The wellness has the lowest fat content of any cat food I've found yet. Innova Evo is unique in that it's grain-free and extremely high in protein, which mimics a cat's natural diet more closely. Either food should give you good results.
