I think a boss who sleep with a subordinate is risking more than just a broken heart. This can constitute sexual harassment if the subordinate suddenly decides he or she has had enough and wants to make life hell for the boss. Conversely, there is the subordinate who is pressured by the boss to have a sexual relationship or face loss of job. This is a fundamental and addressed concept in the workplace. Those in the same organization who are of unequal workplace power had better be VERY careful when pursuing such a relationship. It can backfire in so many messy ways. Personally, I would never sleep with the boss, or if I were the boss, I would not sleep with a subordinate. These scenarios were actually lined out specifically in a mandatory sexual harassment seminar every employee at my workplace had to go through and pass a test on. It just isn't worth it unless you're married to the boss already, and then, well, the sleeping with the boss bit is part of the marriage contract...

This is an interesting Q. I think men and women do it for different reasons, so you women out there can confirm or refute my thinking. I imagine that women value personal relationships more than their career, so they are more likely to break the rules to have an on-the-job romance. I also think that women are much more likely to use a personal relationship as a conduit to professional power--that is the woman who is sleeping with the boss can run the organization via her influence.

It's a dangerous game and can lead to lack of job.

Never, never, NEVER mix business with pleasure. A liaison away from work with a colleague is one thing, but there is always the high likelihood that this will ultimately manifest itself AT work too, and leave the air so distastefully thick with resentment and jealousy, that it can cause major problems for more than the couple involved.

Well first of all, I don't think of them as "lowering their dignity" just because they have an attraction to one another. But on the other hand, they both may have their own set of intentions. If they are grown, then what they choose to do is up to them.

A woman who will lower herself to become the butt of emotional turmoil on her job by sleeping with her boss is buying a one-way ticket to unemployment, heartbreak and embarrassment. Sleeping with any man will not improve that man's opinion of you and if you sleep with a man you are not married to he may think you are an easy "slut", whom he can use for his own selfish gratification whenever he pleases. He will not ever respect or cherish you. It is a truly, inexperienced, desperate or lowly esteemed female who will sleep with her boss. Someone needing pity and personal counseling.

desperate attempt to feel needed and important. But, they will always be the first to get fired when the boss is finished with you. What do we do when piece of clothing becomes old and worn out? We throw it away and never think about it again.

I still sleep with the boss. My husband keeps saying HE is the boss of me. Little does he know that I'm the real boss.

Truthfully--I feel that is none of my business who others sleep with. I do, however, frown on sleeping with co-workers. Not a good policy. After a break-up, it could get uncomfortable. Just me.
