How many people actually take what other people say regarding health issues as gospel here.?
Even though there is some genuine and honest answers
Its a Scary thought that some bugger could take wrong advice literally. And could that hold Yahoo responsible?

Even I would not tell someone what to do, only make suggestions as to how they might proceed. I generally also always suggest that patients who are actually unwell, as distinct from those who want to buy or try drugs or just have something they wish clarified etc to go see their GP. Though I often suggest what they should ask or expect when they get there.

Generally looking at the answers to health questions, the answers fall into 3 groups,

1) stupid/rude

2)Recommending quack remedies/sites

3)Good common sense often recommending a trip to the doctor.

I am delighted to say that the majority seem to fall into the third group. Also generally most of these answers are more sensible, better laid out and better spelt than many of the questions.

Having said that I basically agree that people should take care. But many are only asking questions in a way they would ask their pals and are similarly free to take or leave the advice in much the same way.

I would not take it as gospel, but can be good for some guidance.

People with common sense can work out for themselves whether the answers are rubbish or genuine, but the bottom rule is, when someone has concerns about their own health they should go to a doctor for a correct diagnosis.

The people that irritate me are the ones who have been to the doctors for a professional diagnosis, but then question it on here???!!! That doesn't make sense.

You would hope that people would take advice as a starting point and look up further themselves or get it confirmed by a healthcare professional!
