I know labs are very active dogs. My pup is three months old. We take him to the park about every other day. We play with him outside. He has tons of toys inside. But he gets bored with it all. He losed interest in his toys after he plays with them a few times.

How do I keep him happy?

Labs are pretty high maintenance. Good that you are getting him lots of exercise and providing toys, but labs are GREAT ones for playing with someone else. They like to chase and fetch and run, as opposed to just laying around chewing stuff (like my dogs do!) He needs you to interact when he's playing or he will get bored really quickly with toys that just lie there. Maybe you could also try toys that can be attached to stuff they he can pull on (even just a strong old cloth attached to a doorknob) or battery operated stuff that moves and he can chase (they are hunters by nature). Good luck....puppy time is tough!

Pick up half the toys he has available. Every week, switch out the half you've picked up with the half he's played with.
Buy boredom busting toys, buster cubes, stuffed kongs, etc. Feed him from these toys instead of just a bowl. Toss his ration of food out on the floor and make him look for it.

Take him to training. A good Puppy Kindergarten will socialize him and give him some mental stimulation.

Put things into his yard to explore, big plastic flower pots, empty (or full in the summer) kiddie swimming pools, those big plastic toys for little kids (little tikes)
