Lately, my 9 month old lab has not been sleeping well. He gets plenty of daily exercise, so he should be tired. I have also noticed some yellowish discharge coming from his left eye. Lastly, he is panting more than ususal. Last night he woke me up because he was panting excessively. It is getting warmer, to maybe explain the panting, but the yellowish discharge is particularly concerning.

sounds like its time for a vet check up....it could be so many things and without a proper exam we here on answers just cant give you the correct answers... just guesses...any color in discharge is usually some type of infection whether its a slight infection or a bad one is not really our call he could need major antiobotics or just benedryl??... Labs are well known for eating thing they are not supposed to eat.. he could have eaten something and was allergic? He could just have normal weather change type cold. he could have an eye infection. he could just be hot.... the list could go on forever but only a certified vet exam will solve your problem... good luck....smile

His symptoms can indicate any number of things. The eye discharge could simply be a temporary irritation or a serious infection. Be on the safe side and have his vet take a look at him.

Could be lots of stuff, but if there is yellow discharge and he is panting, he probaby has some sort of eye infection that is giving him a fever. A vet trip is definitely in order.

Yes you need to see a vet.while panting is normal in hot weather or after a dog has been very active, panting during the night while at rest, and doing it so loudly it wakes you up,should be a major concern.
