Totally depends on their school work load, sports participation and physical activity level and hormones of the day. Some say that teens need heaps of sleep, up to 12 hrs, and some of them do. Others say that they need little sleep but really, their bodies are going through so many changes that it needs that rest time to sort itself out. Whatever suits the teen is probably right.

At least 9 hours (medically). During the stages of life, a teenager goes to rapid changes and development. It's the stage in life where we grow faster than the other stages. Voices deepen (males), body shape starts developing (females), etc.

Of course you know that your always going to get that " 8 hours is best" response..but I have found that if you get between 5 and 7 hours your going to be just as alert and responsive as you would if you get 8 hours..

Your body is growing and recuperating when you are sleeping. If you want to age yourself by the time you're 30 and look like you're 50, skimp on your sleep.
