Ameriplan is NOT insurance. It's a discount plan that offers up to 80% off the set fee for a procedure. First of all check and see if your dentist accepts it, if not, you can go to the Ameriplan site and do a free search to find dentists in your area that will accept the plan, but do confirm with the dentist that he still accepts the plan. http://www.ameriplanusa.com/
Be warned though, the plan says you can save UP TO 80%, you may only save 10% or 25%. You need to check and see if the dentist will accept a payment plan on the balance you do owe, some procedures can still be expensive.
The benfits are that you get immediate coverage - no waiting period, and pre-existing conditions are covered. I know several people who have this coverage and it has worked well for them, and despite what you may read or hear about Ameriplan, it is simple to cancel if you no longer want it, just fax or mail them a signed letter requesting cancellation and it will be processed promptly. They won't cancel it based on a phone call.
My boss used it to pay for his grand children's dental treatment, he paid just under $3000 for braces instead of almost $6000 so he saved a bunch!

You should be aware that Ameriplan is NOT insurance, and therefore unregulated by the state.

For a fee, this internet based work-at-home company will provide you with a list of dentists who have agreed to discount their normal fees.

Be sure the list is current, as there have been numerous complaints that consumers have found very few dentists on the list still accepting the discounted patients. Also, the dentists who DO accept the discounts may try to add on an additional cost (such as lab fees) to make up for the money they are giving away.

A search on the internet will bring up many complaints by consumers and former sales reps. Do your homework before sending confidential information and money over the internet to a company that is completely unregulated.
